What are the USB Analog Input Modules being used for?

4 Channel USB Analog Input Module
The LucidControl USB analog input module is designed and developed in order to acquire analog voltages signals and convert the analog input voltage into its equivalent digital value for further processing and use by subsequent automation systems.
The LucidControl USB analog input module is configured to provide 4 analog interfaces with 5V, 10V and 24V input ranges. The USB ADC modules are also available for negative input ranges so that it is also possible to acquire voltages of e.g. -10V to +10V.
The analog input module guarantees an accuracy of 0.25% by using a high resolution of 14 bit which is suitable for most measurement and monitoring applications and which is a very good compromise between accuracy and costs.

4-20mA interfaces on the other hand are used in noisy environment and also when data should be transmitted loss-free over long distances. While a voltage applied to a transmission line can cause a voltage drop on the line which leads to a measurement error, current loops avoid this problem by sourcing a current instead a voltage. The current flowing through a resistor parallel to the clamps of the USB ADC module causes then a voltage drop proportional to the sourced current across the resistor. The loss of the transmission line can be neglected and the voltage measured by the USB analog input module is highly accurate.
